Case studies of innovation in pedagogy and method
The research includes case studies of methodological and pedagogical innovation. The focus here is on developing in-depth insights into innovations in context using interviews, observations and documents in an iterative process. We are keen to locate case study sites for exploring:
- methods teaching at the interface of the social sciences and the arts/humanities
- emergent methods and competences for complex, linked and hierarchical datasets
- methods teaching using new/digital learning technologies.
We will attempt to immerse ourselves into communities of practice to generate robust but nuanced understanding of processes of innovation in the social science advanced research methods arena. Our focus includes both how innovation in methods affects the ways in which skills and knowledge are shared so that capacity is built, and how those developing new ways of teaching and learning research methods may shape the methods themselves.
